The University of Newcastle offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. These degrees are provided through five faculties:
- Health
- Education and Arts
- Business and Law
- Science and Information Technology
- Engineering and Built Environment
The course fee at the University of Newcastle depends on the course chosen at any of the schools. It is paid on a semester basis. The University also offers various Commonwealth Scholarships like Equity Scholarship Scheme University of Newcastle and Commonwealth Learning Scholarships for undergraduate students. These are offered to financially weak students. The other scholarships at the University of Newcastle include�Summer Vacation Scholarships, Postgraduate Scholarships, Research Higher Degree Scholarships, Scholarships for Commencing Students, Honours Scholarships, Scholarships for Continuing Students and University of Newcastle Industry Scholarship Scheme. These are available in various fields and are of different remunerations.
The University of Newcastle offers on campus accommodation facilities to all its first year students. The University has four residential colleges at the main campus of Callaghan and one at Ourimbah campus. The residential colleges at the main campus include�Edwards Hall, International House, Evatt House and Barahineban and Blue Gum House at Ourimbah campus. The room rates are different at each of these residential colleges and some of them include meal charges as well. The University of Newcastle also offers off-campus private accommodation facilities to students at both the main campus and Ourimbah campus.
The international students at the University of Newcastle are offered an Orientation Programme and they need to arrive before this programme starts. They arrive at the Sydney International Airport and need to meet the visa requirements as specified by the Australian Immigration Office. The University arranges for transportation from the airport by bus and rail services.
