Wodonga is a city which lies on the southern bank of the Murray River and is a twin town along with Albury. Wodonga is a small city which is a part of the Wodonga City Council. The twin cities of Albury and Wodonga are located on the opposite sides of the Murray River. The two of them are usually referred to as Albury-Wodonga. The city of Wodonga is situated 567km south-west of Sydney along the Hume Highway and is 183m above the sea level.

The twin cities of Albury- Wodonga were built primarily as customs port on the sides of the Murray River. Wodonga is considered to be less prosperous in comparison to Albury and is often termed as the ‘Struggle town’. The economic growth of the region is also quite less than that of Albury. The city of Wodonga has witnessed tremendous growth in the last 25 years in all matters and has come up as a favourite tourist destination.

Wodonga experiences a very pleasant type of climate with hot, dry summers and cool winters. In summer months, the temperatures soar up to 34ºC and in winters it drops down to 12ºC on an average in a year. The average amount of rainfall is about 750mm and snowfall is quite rare in the region.
