Geelong is located at the southern part of Australia and is an important city in the state of Victoria. This is the second largest city in the state. The name of Geelong is well known around the world for the Geelong Football Club and Supercats. The perfect scenic locations of the city have made it a favourite with the directors of films and serials. Deakin University is also located in this city apart from this there are many renowned secondary and high schools. The city is home to many major companies like Ford Motor Company and Shell. Aboriginal tribes used to reside in the area where the Geelong city is now located. The white settlement began since the 19th century and during the gold rush days the town experienced a population expansion. Culturally and economically also the town grew very fast. Officially the city came into being in the year 1836.

The Geelong is located by the Corio Bay where the port is located. The Barwon River also flows though the city. The average annual temperature ranges from 13.9 degree Celsius to 24.7 degree Celsius approximately.

The main places of attraction in Geelong are You Yangs which is a granite park, Bells Beach, National Wool Museum, Old Geelong Gaol, Kardinia Park, Avalon raceway, Fort Queenscliff and the Mritime Museum. One can plan a vacation to Geelong during the numerous festivals and events which take place in the city. The Mredith Music Festival, Pako Festa, Poppykettle festival, Australian International Airshow are a few of them. Among the popular waterfront attractions the names of Bellarine Peninsula, Great Ocean Road and the Shipwreck Coast need special mention. Geelong is a perfect place for a sport enthusiast as it offers various sporting opportunities on land, water and air. The art galleries in Geelong are in operation since the 19th century and displays both European and Australian art.
